Joining Damien on a Lovegrove street workshop is an experience in itself. On this full day of training you’ll learn the art of urban portrait photography including:
- Why locations are chosen
- Finding the light
- Directing your model
- Exposure settings
- When, where and how to use flash
- Creative compositional tips
- Expert guidance to improve your photography skills
Who is this workshop for?
This training day is for both professional and enthusiastic amateur photographers looking to improve their photographic confidence and competence. As long as you are familiar with your camera and are able to change settings and modes you’ll be fine. (see the Preparation tab for more info)
This workshop is suitable for professional or amateur photographers of all levels. All we ask is that you familiarise yourself with using your own camera and learn how to change settings quickly before attending the event. This will enable you to make the most of your training experience.
What to bring
Camera – Any digital SLR or a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera is ideal.
Lenses – On APSC format lenses within a range between 16mm to 60mm is ideal and on full frame 24mm to 90mm is perfect. There are times where an extreme wide angle lens may be a preferred option or a longer telephoto. The important thing with lens choice is to take what you feel comfortable with.
Spare batteries and memory cards.
Suitable clothing and footwear.
What not to bring
You won’t need to bring your speedlights, tripods or monopods. Damien will provide the flashes and triggers as required (for setups using up to two flashes).

As our costs for each training event remain the same regardless of how many delegates attend, like any pre-booked tickets for the theatre, concert, flights etc, we are unable to give a full refund in the event of non-attendance, regardless of the circumstances.
The exception to this is if we have prior notice and are able to put a cancellation place back online AND your place is resold. In this event we will of course make a full refund or credit to you. We also reserve the right to cancel any workshop if there is insufficient demand, especially if it means that our costs would be higher than our income. Please therefore do not leave it until the last few weeks if you are interested in a particular date, as you may find that it has been removed! Please note that we cannot be liable for any other costs incurred by yourself, so please check with us before booking any non-refundable accommodation or transport.
